Goeh Lemoe

Half-day trek out of Banda Aceh

Max elevation: 601m

Goeh Lemoe Agam is a large, rounded hill 10km west of Banda Aceh town.

Start of trek

This trek ascends the north side of the hill, starting at the coastal village of Lamguron in Peukan Bada district, Aceh Besar

Summit view

The climb is surprisingly demanding as the path is overgrown and initially very steep. As the climb starts at sea level it is humid, although higher up the mountain pleasant breezes penetrate the forest.

Rock-hopping

There are a few, easy scrambles over rocky outcrops en route.

View over Banda Aceh

There is a small rocky viewpoint two-thirds of the way up the mountain just to the left of the main path, and a larger clearing at the summit with good views over Lhok Nga, Banda Aceh and to Seulawah Agam
